Zach Thomason do not read this! So what I have pulled from dark souls 2 is this. (Speculation) according to in game dialouge, in ancient times there was king vendrick, who built a magnificent kingdom called drangleic on a spot that is still being debated over whether it is lordran or perhaps one of the outerlying kingdoms (big possibility it could be vinheim). Vendricks queen, Nasharna, wanted to extend the territory of drangleic accross the sea. So king vendrick, out of love for his kingdom and queen, crossed the sea and fought against the giants bringing back a prize according to the dialouge. That prize I think was the undead plague. After returning hollow, his queen locked him in undead crypt where his captain velstadt stands watch over him. What happened in between then and now to cause the queen to turn into such a monster is beyond me. U see her picture prior to speaking with her in drangleic castle and if u walk to close to it, it curses you. I analyzed that picture before proceeding and sure enuf I had an audience with the queen after that asking for me to kill the king. So basically, what ive pulled from this is, his queen wanted his throne and basically manipulated the king into going accross the sea where she knew hed either die or become undead. After all of this happens, the giants come across the sea themselves and though we know humans won the war, drangliec was laid to waste as it is now. (All of this is speculation on my part) these topics and this storyline has sparked a huge argument on reddit and I just wanted to share what I have pulled from it. Every item u pick up has a story reason for being in that spot. Every boss u encounter has some sort of lore behind them. Every npc has a back story. I dont play this game for the sheer thrill of beating it. I play it because it is a constant conversation. Basically I wanted to share this because the reason this world of drangleic is so wasted and so decrepit, is because one manipulative woman had everything play out in her favor. That is until I killed her ass at the end haha. All of this post is speculation on my part so dont take it as fact.
