Zahid have proven that he is not racist. Zahid have many non-malay friends and he is busy trying to get Paul Phua, a non-malay, away from the hand of zionist big bully America. Rakyat diutamakan. .. .. Zahid have the right to choose his non-malay friends and they need not include all you law abiding people. Paul Phua need him more than all of you. Now all of you know that Zahid is of Prime Minister materials. Zahid can even help to draft a gambling kingpin into national security services. This is Malaysia. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Come clean on gambling kingpin’s role in ‘national security’, PKR tells Zahid Published: 3 January 2015 Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should come clean on accused gambling kingpin Paul Phua Wei Seng’s role in assisting the government on matters concerning national security, says the opposition. The Home Ministry must explain the role played by accused gambling kingpin Paul Phua Wei Seng in assisting the government on matters concerning national security, a PKR leader said today. Party information chief Fahmi Fadzil said Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should come clean on the matter and elaborate on how and why had Phua been involved in such projects. He also questioned whether the so-called letter by Zahid, vouching for Phua, to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was genuine. Phua, a former Macau junket operator, was facing illegal bookmaking charges in Las Vegas after being arrested during the World Cup tournament. On New Years Eve, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Zahid had sent a letter to the FBI, stating that Phua was not a member of Hong Kong’s 14K Triad. The SCMP also reported that in the letter, addressed to FBI deputy director Mark F. Giuliano, the home minister claimed that Phua had assisted Putrajaya on projects affecting national security. This statement was particularly surprising, said Fahmi, calling on Putrajaya to elaborate on Phuas role. Furthermore, Fahmi also wondered why was Zahid willing to vouch for Phua, considering he had been brought up on bookmaking charges but kept silent when Interpol issued an arrest warrant on renowned Egyptian Islamic theologian Dr Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. It was reported that Phuas defence team had submitted Zahids letter, marked “private & confidential”, to the United States District Court in Las Vegas recently. Phuas lawyers have consistently refuted allegations that their client had any ties with Hong Kongs organised crime groups since his arrest in July. In the letter, Zahid did not elaborate on what matters of national security Phua had assisted Malaysia nor could his office be reached for comment, the SCMP reported. Phua, 50, and his son stand accused of running an illegal gambling operation from suites at the Caesar’s Palace Hotel in Las Vegas during the World Cup in Brazil in July 2014. The report said an online message found on his computer during a police raid suggested that bets of the alleged operation reached a grand total of HK$2.7 billion (RM1.22 billion), according to court documents. American federal prosecutors alleged the group made a profit of US$13 million (RM45.5 million) in June and July on football bets. Phua’s lawyers are challenging the admissibility of evidence, including the online message in court. SCMP said the allegation that Phua was a triad member was based on an FBI internal document previously submitted to the court. It said Malaysian police were reported to have informed the FBI’s representative in Kuala Lumpur, of Phuas ties to the criminal organisation. The Malaysian with roots in Sarawak was Macau’s top earning junket operator a decade ago, before becoming a prominent high-stakes poker player. In 2011, he was granted a diplomatic passport by the European microstate of San Marino as its ambassador to Montenegro. In June, Phua was arrested in Macau in a crackdown on an online betting ring that, according to Macau police, took HK$5 billion in bets. He was deported from the territory. SCMP stated that the raid remains the largest strike on illegal bookmaking in the gambling hub’s history.
