Zakayo Cheruiyot reportedly told the president and the entire Jubilee parliamentary group that.. “Kalenjins know when they are in Government and they do not have to be told. I too, have been in Government and I know when I am in one.” This may have been true and only applicable when President Moi was in power, but now things have changed, the days of brandishing the tribal card to get benefits are long gone. Its only the elite political class who have the dubious luxury of using their last name to get something. But for us ordinary citizens, its merit my friend. My free advice is this; Work hard and invest in positive networks irrespective of tribe or political extraction. This is especially true in the non-governmental and corporate world where many of us are increasingly looking upto for upward mobility. Your friends will help you while the politician will use you. Make a Choice!!
