Zamora named Brighton best: Bobby Zamora edged out Peter Ward to be selected as Brighton & Hove Albion’s greatest ever player by the club’s fans in a poll conducted as part of The Football Leagues 125th Anniversary celebrations. Zamora collected 42% of the votes cast after three prolific years with Brighton in which he registered over 80 goals, but Ward came in a solitary percentage point behind him with Mark Lawrenson, Brian Horton and Jimmy Case making up the top five. Zamora sits alongside legends of the game including Brian Clough, Sir Bobby Robson, Sir Tom Finney, Billy Wright, Sir Stanley Matthews, Trevor Francis, Billy Bremner and Herbert Chapman who have all been named in a list of the greatest contributors to clubs’ league history in a vote as part of The Football League’s 125th Anniversary celebrations.
