Zane, Please keep my name private. I have a question...What should I do if I have heard rumors that a close relative has aids WITHOUT being offensive. I have heard this from SEVERAL people and the person shes dealing with is the one they are saying gave it to her and others. I really just want her to get treatment and be a support system if she has it. How can I bring this up? MY RESPONSE: You state that she is a close relative but does that mean close in regards to the family tree or close as in someone you have a constant, communicating relationship with? There is a differnnce. Hopefully, she is getting treatment, if the rumors are even true. I would approach is from a way that you are letting her know what people are saying and gauge her reaction to it. She will either say it is ridiculous and not true, or she will feel comfortable enough to discuss it with you if it is true. She may deny it, even if she has it and that will tell you that she does not care to have you involved in her business. In that case, you need to leave it alone and allow her to live her life. It is a very serious thing to face, especially if you are still with the person who infected you and love them. She may not want to discuss it because she does not want any backlash against her mate. However, if you believe that your cousin will get upset if you ask that, you may need to leave it alone. Tough one but you are going to have to feel the situation out. Good luck.
