Zero tolerance on illegal constructions (SC frowns on encroachments) When we talk about illegal constructions, it has always been light issue in the eyes of government. Though it is against the law, still there lacked some strictness in such cases. But now the Supreme Court said there would be zero tolerance of illegal constructions, from statues of public figures to religious structures, on encroached government land. It was also observed by Justice S.J. Mukhopadhaya that there is a large number of statues, temples, gurudwaras, mosques, churches constructed illegally on government land. There is need for strictness and zero tolerance to keep the illegal constructions on government land, in check.
