Zimbabwe lose to Namibia in the opening game of Windhoek Draft Tri-Nations Zimbabwe national rugby team lost 35-26 to Namibia, in Windhoek last night. Namibia scored the opening try of the match only for Zimbabwes winger Gardner Nechironga scored a converted try- to take a 7-5 lead in the first half. The Sables then added a further 10 points, with debutant Sean Moan scoring his first try for Zimbabwe. It was Namibia however, who had the last say in the first half with an unconverted try and a penalty to narrow the Sables lead to 17-13.Zimbabwe added an early penalty in the second half, to take the score to 20-13. Zimbabwe then lost Captain Daniel Hondo to concussion, as the Namibians replied back with a converted try. The scores were locked at 20 all going into the final quarter of the match. Namibia found the extra gear to finish the match stronger with 2 tries and a penalty, the only managing a penalty through the boot of Lenience Tambwera, with the game finishing 35-26 to the hosts. The Sables are using the tournament to prepare for the Rugby World Cup qualifiers- to be held in June 2014.
