Produced and directed by Prakash Mehra, it stars Amitabh Bachchan , Vinod Khanna, Raakhee, Rekha and Amjad Khan. Orphaned and abused at a very young age, a young boy struggles to make a living by slaving day and night, working in the house of a wealthy man named Ramnath (Shreeram Lagoo). Ramnath does not like him. Ramnaths young daughter Kaamna, however, empathizes with the boy and they form a friendship. Eventually, he is adopted by a Muslim woman Fatima (Nirupa Roy) who names him Sikandar…Sikandar is mistaken to be robbing Ramnath’s house when he goes to give his daughter a Birthday present….Sikandar is shunted out…. As Sikandar is crying in the graveyard, a fakir, Darvesh Baba (Kader Khan) comes to him and asks him to embrace the woes of life and find happiness in sadness, for then he would become the conqueror of fate…..events take a turn…. A grown up Sikandar (Amitabh Bachchan) has amassed a fortune by turning in smuggled goods to the police and receiving the reward payouts…..He still loves Kaamna, who in turn loves his chanced friend Advocate Vishal Anand (Vinod Khanna)…it’s a vicious Love triangle…that ends in the Hero embracing his Ultimate destiny in the hands of his childhood love and his Advocate friend…. “Zindagi toh bewafa hai,…”………..
