Zoe is a year old (and a couple of weeks). Her favorite toy is her wagon that she pushes around and crawls inside. She also likes anything she can throw. Her favorite words are dada, ut oh, ma, mum, woof woof, Diego, itzie, eye and duh. She stands on her own, climbs on the couch, crawls everywhere, plays with remote controls, flashlights, extension cords, and anything else that is totally off limits. She had her first cold recently. She has three top teeth and three bottom teeth. She has been camping once and glamping twice. She loves to eat pasta, rice, bananas, avocado, carrots, potatoes, tofu, yams, and broccoli. She tried a very small taste of Siracha tonight and cried, but she loves garlic, dill, parsley and basil. She drinks from a straw but spills everywhere. She plays windshield wiper with her food tray when she is finished eating. Izzie comes in the house and cleans up her dining mess. She always pulls her socks off. She plays on the trampoline at daycare. She recently discovered her belly button and other body parts and thinks they are funny. She also Laughs every time she sneezes. She cries when people blow their noses. She pretends to cough anytime she hears someone cough. She says aaah after she takes a drink or wants a drink. She pretends to guzzle her water bottle (even if it is empty). She loves any Music and dances a lot. She likes it when we attempt to Beat Box, and has a pretty interesting dance move for those occasions. They say it goes by quickly and to enjoy each moment. That advice always stressed me out when Zoe was a newborn. I felt pressured...like these fleeting moments were going to slip through my hands. I thought I would blink and it would be over. But now I totally disagree with the cliche. I think it goes nice and slow. And I dont think anyone needs to be reminded to enjoy each moment. It feels like Ive known Zoe for a lifetime, and it is impossible not to soak it all in. A little over a year ago I hated reading about other peoples boring lives as parents. I had no idea. Now I have a one year old.
