Zombie Movie Week starts today!!!! I am so happy. I love zombie movies. In honor of Halloween, we bring you two: Life After Beth and the great Dead Snow. Here are our reviews: LIFE AFTER BETH, showing at 7pm all week till Wednesday. A Zombie Romantic Comedy. The question at the heart of this film is: can you really love a Zombie? The answer is no, no you cant love a Zombie. The problem is its hard to break up with a Zombie. Life After Beth has a different tempo and emotional range than other zombie movies, because it elongates the time in which people become zombies. Instead of waking up one morning to the Zombie apocalypse, our hero watches his girlfriend slowly turn into a Zombie over a the course of a couple weeks. At the beginning of the film, Zachs girlfriend, Beth, gets bitten by a snake and dies. Zach mourns with her parents and regrets things he neglected to do with Beth. But one day, Beth returns to life. At first Ben is overjoyed. But something seems different about Beth. Shes getting more and more violent. And the same thing is happening to other people in town. When Zach tries to break up with Beth, she eats his neighbor. And when he sees his long dead Grandfather walking down the street, Zach knows something is wrong. But even after Beth has eaten her own father, Zachs feelings for her are still complicated. Just remember if youre ever falling out of love with a Zombie, theres always potential for one last romantic moment. Trailer: youtube/watch?v=Xdu0H-jTx1M DEAD SNOW, RED V. DEAD. Showing at 9pm all week, 7pm Thursday. Whats more horrifying than Zombies? Nazi Zombies! In a sleepy little town in Norway, Nazi hatred still burns beneath the frozen ground. We thought we killed them back in WWII, but no! Theyre back from the dead. This time with Zombie vengeance. Led by the terrible Colonel Herzog, these zombies arise 70 year later to complete Hitlers orders to destroy the little town. A rag tag team assembles to fight off the Nazi Zombies. The Zombie Squad, a group of American nerd siblings whove been preparing for a Zombie invasion, team up with Martin, a Norwegian man who happens to have a magical Zombie arm. They use Martins arm to raise their own army of Soviet zombies. Mad Zombie battles ensue. The film is so violent it crosses the line into slapstick. It explodes the possibilities of a Zombie film, taking the genre to new and more ridiculous extremes. After its a midnight premier at Sundance this year, Dead Snow 2 bound for cult classic status. Its a sequel to Dead Snow 1, a low budget film from 2009 by Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola. Part 1 did so well that Wirkola has the budget to fully realize his gruesome vision in the sequel. For example: Now the zombies have tanks. If you didnt see part 1, dont worry. Nazi Zombies...thats all you need to know. Trailer: youtube/watch?v=n4FoV9iiLmI
