Zoning Out have a question and would like to know if any other - TopicsExpress

Zoning Out have a question and would like to know if any other parents have seen their kiddos behave like this. My little guy is 4. He has low vision, ASD, and OCD. For a couple of years I have noticed times when he just completely zones out. He has nystagmus and when he zones out his nystagmus goes nuts. I call his name and he doesnt answer. He just stares off into space for about 20 to 30 seconds and then snaps out of it. Twice in this week he has done it. Once was right after a blood test that he was pretty upset about. The lab tech wasnt sure what was going on when he did it. The second time was today right after his swim lesson when he was in the verge of a meltdown because we werent leaving the hot noisy swim area right away. I know that both of those times would be a sensory overload for him but he has done it at other times when it is not an obvious sensory situation. Has anyone else had their kiddos do this? Im just wondering if I need to call his doctor and bring it up.
