____Kashmir doctors’ body pitches for two-stage MBBS entrance test_____ JKNN/ An apex body of doctors in Kashmir Saturday pitched for an aptitude test in the form of an interview for the admission to MBBS course. The Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) said that there should be an aptitude test in the form of an interview by an expert panel in MBBS entrance after students qualify the written test. President DAK, Dr Nisar ul Hassan said: this will serve two purposes, one to reassess the candidate’s credibility and credentials and second to assess the candidate for knowledge that is not pertinent to the field. Dr Hassan said, “We have seen doctors in the past who were subjected to the aptitude test were better in terms of patient care. Provided the people in the expert panel are honest the interview can help to choose the best possible talent.” He said his organization demands “clinical assessment for post graduate courses in entrance examination the students are pivotal in patient care in tertiary care hospitals. “This clinical assessment was part of selection process in the past which was abandoned for some reason. This abandonment of clinical assessment has deteriorated patient care in tertiary care hospitals,” he said. “The medical profession has lost its dignity and honor because of BOPEE scam. People have lost faith in doctors,” he rued. Professional entrance tests are conducted every year in Jammu and Kashmir by the Board of Professional Entrance Exams (BOPEE) for selecting candidates from thousands of aspirants for medical, engineering, agricultural and other degree courses. The Crime Branch registered a case following complaints about the selections made by BOPEE in 2012, and started investigations. What created suspicion over the selections was that many candidates finishing at the top of the entrance test had poor academic records
