a billion years or older i am told, the chunk of granite that sits next to me...formed through extreme contrasts and pressures, dumped into the bottoms of a deep lake and tumbled for millions of years, this egg shaped gneiss stone is a testament to what happens as matter coalesces into form... Stardust we are, and how we have been shaped is the same more or less than this stone sitting next to me...we have collapsed as an event in this world just as this stone did, a product of the physics of interaction... We have looked at perception and the limits to this, at attentiveness as a state of being, and now i am interested in interaction as this seems to underlie all of what happens in the apparent world...interaction implies more than one, whereas action and reaction only imply one direction. I wonder if we apply this to our own life, what will we learn? Is one direction (action or reaction) enough, or is this too limiting a point of view? The world is caught in action/reaction, this can be seen on any tv screen. It is clear we are a mess in many ways. So how do we understand this mess? Will reacting against the reaction be of any value or only continue the same pattern? Are we attentive to the mess that we are? Are we caught in action and reaction as a point of view, or are we open to interaction, to the underlying actuality of an interconnected and interdependent world? In holding to an isolated point of view we look in a line and this section is all that can be seen...what happens when we interact? The billion year old stone sitting beside me is a product of the forces of interaction just as i am...so what will come of interaction? Well, that is the really fun part, as we do not know what will come of interaction but we can greet it well and attend to it well....have a great weekend all...
