a cute thing happened yday...while having dinner, to some context to our talk, our daughter said...mom- you are my girlfriend and gave me a sweet kiss- [i was flat....with such spontaneous response] and then she looked at dinesh saying-and you are my boyfriend...dinesh and myself just went PAUSE with a smile and mixed emotions...[she is just 5 years eight months----far away to understand the actual meaning of what she said]we have read many times that a father is the first boyfriend of his daughter- but to listen to our daughter saying it with cutest hug and kiss was really overwhelming...and a thought came- Usually in Indian society and conservative culture it is a taboo to have a boyfriend/girlfriend --least ever discussed with family if one has [this might come as a cultural shock for Non-Indians] ..in contrast to making it a taboo- how lovely it can get if your child is given a foundation of understanding what a boyfriend/a girlfriend truly is - a person on whom you can put your trust, be yourself without fearing judgments and share your heart freely-will such foundation understanding not make things more deep, sustainable and trustworthy when they actually reach an age to have one in their lives?? i suppose it will....good thought worth application... love you my child for opening door for deep learning possibilities as i proudly pay my service to you as a loving parent..
