a dads daily devotional July 12, 2013 Wasting time… What do you do with your life? What is your time, energy and money spent on? What would you call your priorities? What would other people say are your priorities? These questions are important because people either invest their lives in what is eternal or what is temporary. What did Jesus say? John 6:27-29 "Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." (28) Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" (29) Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." When you invest in what can lead people to come to faith in Christ, you are investing in eternity. When you invest in almost everything else, it is temporary and you are wasting your time. When you waste enough time, you are wasting your life. Does this mean your family is not important? Does it mean your education is not important? Does it mean your career is not important? Does it mean you should not take care of your home and yard? Does it mean you cannot have hobbies, like fishing, working on cars, sports, etc. Of course I am not saying these things are not important, but we should view all of these things through the prism of eternity. For example: How can the Lord use you to lead your family to Christ and to lead others to Christ? (Be a family on mission) How can the Lord use your education and career as a means and medium to share the gospel? How can the Lord use your home as a means of sharing the gospel and making disciples? How can the Lord use your hobby as a means of putting you around people who need to hear about Jesus? Please, do not waste your time and life on what is temporary. Invest your life in eternity. Love, Dad (Brother Tom)
