a little switch up to the Hoya format...Tonight For some time now, weve been wanting to invite some people to Hoya that had an influence on it way back before it even had a name. Call it a series if you like, but they may not happen in succession. First one to roll through is Arthur Smith aka Artwork, playing a very special Big Apple era set. Big Apple records was a big part of the melting pot that changed up UK dance music in the early 2000s, releasing pivotal work from Loefah, Digital Mystikz, J Da Flex, Oris Jay etc. Soundsystem music that wasnt Garage, 2-step, Jungle, House or Dancehall but took in all the above and twisted it a way no one expected. Fast forward ten years and its starkly obvious how creative that period of genre defiant mayhem was. From Mentas Sound Of The Future (a Hoya staple from day 1) to Artworks Red EP and countless DND productions (just to name a few) this guy has been making timeless underground music.
