a poem by Ben Leet, which blew me away! THE HUBBLE-TROUBLE EYE The Hubble eye peers so deeply, ever more deeply, deeply, that deeply deepens, how far can it deep? its meaning. Not a nickel size section of the sky, not a dime, not the eyelash on a Lincoln penny A smaller pixel size and even smaller --- farther than far -- Beyond the dust swirls at the remote tip of the universe it peers seeing Gas-generated bow shocks, solar winds of Orion, crescent shaped waves like ships creasing through water, merging galaxies, pillars of molten gases reflecting red, green, orange tadpoles swimming in arcs of light years generating complexities of forces stunning to imagine, and to behold. Like that man Xeno approaching the wall by half measure after 2,500 years He cometh, ever cometh, Warmer, warmer, hes getting Warmer! almost touching the wall, but he has so much farther to go. Does he ever arrive? Is the universe limited? A biology student dissects and splays apart a fish and finds the galaxies and heavens plummeting onto the lab table, eggs like stars falling from the sky. Science consoles --- with its clean, precise story But Jackson Pollacks sheer exuberance tells an even closer truth. All and everything is localized in your minds eye What does it tell thee, oh worm, oh wondrous viewer? Inward or outward vision --- Wheres the difference? Who is looking? for what? -- If thy eye be whole . . . Sandwiched between the great bread slices of inner and outer vision is love and wonder. How else could the twain in harmony sustain? This greater lens positions itself within each being, between the Creator and His universe --- like the great Hubble floating comfortably in the outer space of your pristine heart a mirror in your inner stratosphere a perfect lens without flaw it takes in All and beyond All It sees an ant crawling up your pant leg, it sees yesterday and tomorrow, it sees beyond imagining it knows the ants ruminations as it evolves one million life-times into the future. Hubble, bubble, trouble, boil and bubble. The first photon traveling farther into the outer space pauses in his race to look behind and forward, checking the inner lens he was gifted from beginning to end sensing a sea of Doradus Nebula opening to Eternity -- a conscious divinity in all, peeking from beyond into beyond knowing only a divinity in all. --Ben Leet
