a sign like this used to be near Ashland NE, as you were directed through the railroad underpass near Barnes Oil; then West along Silver Street across the Silver Street Bridge, through Downtown Ashland, past Hoffman Grocery, F & M Bank, Sears Opera House, Raikes Garage, etc. . . the West past the Ashland Cemetery; where you turned South on 30th Street to cross Salt Creek & the wooden overpass over The Burlington, where you re-joined the US 6 bypass by Parkers Smokehouse to proceed West to Greenwood, Waverly, Havelock & Lincoln NE. MANY of the points of interest mentioned are still there ! Several have been repurposed & restored: Barnes Oil Station is now F& M Bank drive thru; Hoffman Grocery/Building is being restored and re-purposed as the Home offices of Linoma Software; Raikes Garage is now the Home of Lee Sapp Ford.
