a total of 49 countries were listed in 1971 by UN as LDC(Least developed country) based on socioeconmic indicators.34 countries fm Afric,14 fm Asia-Pacific, & 1 fm Caribbean. In last 42 years only 3 countries could came out of this list (Botswana_1994,Cape Verde_2007 & Maldivs_2011).Bangladesh was included in this list in 1975 & still we r in this shameful list..Every after 3 years UN evaluates these countries. After so many years Bangladesh really has a good chance of coming out of this list in the next evaluation due in 2015.Why & How !? 30 years back foreign loan was more thn 13% of our GDP which is now less thn 2%,we cud meet only 31% our import expenses with our export earnings which is now almost 100%,Our foreign currency reserve is more thn $16 billion, less thn 27% of people in Bangladesh now lives under poverty line, our per capita income in almost $992,we do not take anymore foreign aid for food....so many encouraging statistics.....Lets hope for the best & Lets talk economics rather thn politics !!!!
