a wise man once told me that EVERY DAY is a comedy festival in LA. instead of spending your money on a bunch of headliner-only shows at a sponsored fest that does next to NOTHING for the local scene, check out what the REAL, struggling, hard-working comedians in this city are pouring all their energy into EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK. here is a small sample of some great shows: mon: The Business @ little joy, free. tues: sleepaway camp @ downtown indie, free. babe island 1st/3rd tues @ bigfoot lodge, ALSO FREE. put your hands together @ UCB. wed: 1st of the month ENTITLEMENT @ grand star $5 (all money goes to performers) thurs: big money @ virgil FREE, the palace FREE, little joy FREE, studio sessions @ rafas FREE, fresh out @ ucb $5 fri: sauce @ desanos FREE, matthew mccomedy @ karma lounge FREE sat: good heroin @ stories FREE. sun: powerviolence FREE, chatterbox in covina FREE, church @ ucb sunset. wanna see famous people put on shows? they host a ton of em in LA like neil hamburger every sunday at the satellite, baked in the valley, hottub @ the virgil, meltdown every wednesday. there are also a bunch of monthlys and bi-monthly shows that im forgetting but you can always check out The Comedy Bureaus calendar. its a great resource.
