.....a wrote this last night before midnight....and till NOW, NO ONE has showed up to help the child....... Homeless 1 year Old Girl Sleeps in the Streets of Miami Tonight. According to 2013 statistics Miami has a population of about 2,617,176 citizens. We have many organizations that are helping the approximate 800 homeless find a home….. I’ve been working for over 3 days to get a government facility to give a family of 4, living in the streets for about a month, a place to rest. Tonight 11 p.m. August 1, 2014, a hotline individual will send a team to assess the situation and find the grandmother, a young man, his girlfriend and her 1 year old baby girl, a temporary shelter. I don’t understand WHY a government agency that has received about 100 Million dollars privately and about another 100 Million from the Federal government in the last ten years, cannot FIND a 1 year old baby and her family a home in 31 days? It takes us, a private Christian organization, a few hours to place a single female or male in one of our six consortium of restoration homes. You have NO idea the persistence, determination and will power needed to find ONE person in a government agency, that cares about the suffering of others. The mother has reported to me that the only thing she received in the last 31 days from agencies, is indifference. I too encountered the same apathy but, I refused to give up. Folks, we need to have the private sector step up and do what the local agencies can’t do. I have properties (land) that need developers to build affordable housing units and along that building a support building that will house women with children, and families on a temporary basis till adequate housing is found. Contact me if you know any developers that want to make money and at the same time, help people in need. By the way…this last week, 3 others women with babies faced the same homeless situation…all were placed in temporary homes belonging to Christian families….the bad news is… this week isn’t over yet.
