about four years ago, i had this grandiose scheme of learning how to bake so i bought some paraphernalia... i dont know if the spectre of my previous culinary debacles kept me from my goal but nothing worthwhile came out of my misguided ambition :(... resigned to the fact that all i can ever cook well are hare-brained schemes, i gave my baking pans to my sister, mallows, who is a baking genius (in my unbiased opinion LOL) but i kept my measuring spoons and cups... two years ago, i started using my plastic 500ml measuring cup to measure the liquid detergent for my washing machine... then when the earthquake happened last Tuesday, the pipe feeding water to my storage tank burst so i had to turn off the water source and bathroom water had to be brought up and my measuring cup became my water scooper... i actually had fun scooping up exactly 500ml of water at a time from the pail everytime i took a bath... so, my trying-hard-to-bake-but-failing purchases werent so useless after all... things have a way of falling into place :)... the pipe has now been replaced but i worry that, with the series of earthquakes this morning, it will burst again... but, at least, i have a calibrated water scooper... i think it will be more fun if i scoop up 234 1/2 ml of water at a time... yes, im borderline-psychotic :)
