The entire aspect of this is complete and utter bullshit. FIRSTLY . A muffler created to alter the variation of noise emitted from a car is deemed ILLEGAL? but the very creation of it was for the intended purpose to keep it quiet around suburban areas and open up flow for highway or performance work.. ? Does this make sense to you ? IF a car fitted with this device was seen/heard at WOT pulled over and the device was open, or sound was significantly less then THE EXACT moment it was seen fair enough. BUT OTHERWISE the government and authorities have simply made another way to get money from a performance enthusiast by outlawing something built with the purpose to comply with the law.... Onto my next point. A loud car may bother some residents, but there is a difference to it driving by, to it RACING or REVING outside your house. DOES a loud car kill you? IS a loud car a public safety issue? Positives of a loud car, *warning a vehicle is around *keeps people alert especially children who may play on the road *Proper exhaust installation while retaining the CAT and tuned appropriately usually is still very close to emission guidelines even if slightly over HOWEVER!. What about the civilian cars/company vehicles, that are oh so seldom ignored and can literally be seen BELLOWING black smoke from the exhaust under simple everyday driving conditions? Negatives of a loud car *disturbance to residents at night *possible wildlife disturbance in the area BUT (the 2 negatives listed) could be solved with the very muffler the authorities deemed illegal to have fitted to a car ? SO I place this question to you ? IS this a public safety issue? OR IS this a government money scheme targeting a minority?
