affordable care act.... As a Financial Advisor, from time to time I help clients find individual health coverage. Our practice doesnt offer health insurance but has access to some quoting options for them. Today, as one of my clients prepares for retirement before age 65, we attempted to find affordable health coverage for the next 3 years. Looking back in their file, we had found our quotes from last year and they would have had a premium for $1160/month (husband and wife). Today, the same plan which is considered a Bronze plan on the Obama exchange, is almost $2800/month. Same deductible, same co-insurance, etc. Since the client will have an annual income of more than $65,000 in retirement, they will not qualify for any subsidy. Im sorry to say... I just can not support this health care option as I dont see how it is actually affordable. I wish there was a better way...
