aje.me/1u8xzvg More evidence accumulates that in Congo, at least, demilitarization does not lead to peace. On Saturday, a thoroughly demilitarized, arme blanche gang of ADF terrorists, armed only with machetes, axes, and knives, attacked the demilitarized and defenseless village of Oicha and killed 36 or 37 people. Thats only slightly more military than the armament of the 9/11 hijackers (box-cutters). Similar coverage of the story in Christianity Today bit.ly/1scHzUD follows Al Jazeeras lead in reporting the story while carefully saying not a single word about who the attackers are and what they might want. There is a bit of ignoring the elephant in the room in that: it is well known that ADF self-identifies as Muslim and has links to Khartoum and Somalia, and that they probably identified Oicha as a majority-Christian village. I cant quite figure out the point of that silence, or what is hoped to be achieved by it, but it seems to be cut from the same cloth as President Obamas insistence that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is not Islamic. Trying to figure out: how can truth, justice, and peace be advanced by falsehood or by the ignoring of the obvious? The mission station and hospital at Oicha were established by AIM missionary Dr. Carl Becker of Manheim, PA., in 1934. Dr. Becker continued to work there until 1976. Its a lovely place. There are lots of African Grey Parrots there, in the surrounding forest. Some of them can talk, but for now, they are not talking about peace.
