akolagarh/profile.html he very utterance of the word’ Mewar’ (spelt as meywar in old writings) conjures up before the mind’s eye the entire panorama of the Indian history repleted with the annals of patritiotism valor and self sacrifice. Mewar includes the historical cities of Udaipur and Chittorgarh. Jhese two cities today are district headquarters. The state of Rajasthan is historically said to be the country of Rajputs, the land of kings (Rajwara), Rajasthan, the land of sand (Marusthali, Marwar), such name have been used to refer to the arid and Semi-arid areas of north-western India in which the state of Rajasthan is situated. for many Rajasthan is a land of sweeping desert vistas, and brilliant sunsets, colorful villagers, Rajput chivalry and tiny hills crowned by forts and battlements. Such perceptions, however, are images of an often distant land that seek the essence of place in a few fleeting cameos. Jnreality, these images are selective. The Rajputs no longer rules in Rajasthan. Yet in a sense, this highly romanticized view of Rajasthan contains more than a kernel of truth. The desert evokes a response to the environment that is reflected in distinctive human ecology, and multi-hued turbans and bright color cloths are an integral part of Rajasthan rural land escape. The tourist who reach Udaipur are tempted to visit besides Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kumbhalgarh and a few other historical and pilgrim places such as Haldi ghati which was the battle field of Maharana Pratap and the Mughal and the Nathdwara temple, the seat of vallabh Sampraday (cult) of Hindus. The temple is located at the village of kailaspuri, 22kms. From Udaipur. Jopography of Mewar the important relief feature of Udaipur city and also the region of Mewar is the Arawali ranges. The Arawali . ranges run northeast – southwest through the center of the state Rajasthan for over 600kms. Chittorgarh is one of the the oldest cities in Rajasthan, and its history goes back to early 8th century. Bappa Rawal is credited with establishing the city of Chittor, but in fact it was occupied by the Mori tribe when Rawal descended upon them from somewhere in mewar in the middle of the 8th century AD. However, for once the takeover was not through war but by matrimonial alliance. Bappa Rawal is reported to be a descendent of the solanki dynasty and had strong familial ties with the Mari clan, an offshoot of the Parmara dynasty of Malwa (Gujarat). In fact, he was the nephew of every significant mori around. So when Bappa left Mewar and came to Chittor he was welcomed with open arms. The mori king made him one of the top brass in his kingdom, giving the 15 year old Bappa Rawal a fiefdom and plenty of nobles under him. The importance of Akola garh lies in its proximity to udaipur and Aravili foothills in Chittorgarh district. Akola garh situated at the border of mewar was the hub of opium cultivation & collection during earlier times of Maharana regime. Small n big forts were constructed by the solanki rajputs, who migrated to this region after the completion of wars with the Mughals across Rajasthan.Akola Garh which was one of the state Jagir is now being run by in heriters of Rao Chandan Singh ji who was one of the Jagirdars of Mewar state.
