alaskan.bandcamp/track/fiend In January of 2011, Teodora Nemet filed charges against her father for assault. That was all she could think to do to finally break the control he had over the family through fear and abuse. Mihalj Nemet was ordered to stay away from the family home and his wife Tinde began the process of leaving her husband. Mihalj immediately tried to intimidate his wife into convincing their daughter to drop the charges and allow him to move back into the home. After 2 months he could wait no longer. He had decided that his wife would not be allowed to leave him. On March 11th on a stormy night he broke into the family home. He waiting in the dark for his wife to wake and come downstairs. When she saw the knife she began to scream. Teodora and her brother came running at the sound of their mother’s screams. The witnessed their father stabbing their mother repeatedly. Thomas, Teodora’s younger brother tried to pry his father away from his victim but could not over power him. He then ran to a neighbor’s home to call the police. Once he had finished what he had come to do he looked at his daughter and said “This is what you wanted, you did this, I hope you’re happy.” These would be his last words to her. Teodora then locked herself in an upstairs bathroom and called the police. Mihalj washed his hands and awaited the police outside. When the police arrived and asked if he knew why they were there he simply stated, “of course, because I murdered my wife.” Mihalj later made a plea do guilty to first degree murder in court.
