all the controversy over the Noah movie has me thinking...about 2-3 decades ago many people i knew quit celebrating with a christmas tree because of its origin - same goes with halloween. however, over time many of those same people realized that christmas and fall fun is is not evil, and we can take what christmas means, and the beauty of fall fun, and bless our families with celebrations. so why cant we take this film, which even if its steeped in muck and ill intent, and take it and use it for good? why cant we go read the story of noah again, and realize what a huge act of obedience this one man performed, against all odds, and imagine with the filmmaker what could have happened? after all, i had never even thought of what it would have been like for Noah, as people begged him to let them on the boat! nor had i realized the turmoil his family went through, leaving the familiar, to board a boat with their crazy dad. and after i read the story of noah again, i was struck with the incredible fortitude Noah had, to partner with God, to replenish the earth. thats only a few of the cool things i saw in the movie. i came out of the movie, sober, and thinking to myself wow, im not sure i could have obeyed God with that particular, daunting task. and im still thinking about that, almost a week later... as i try to obey loving my neighbor as myself, and God with all my heart...living under the grace that came with the promise...
