am suddened by the demise of great Professor Ali Mazrui at Toronto U.S.A yesternight. We have lost a very important person not only in T.University of Mombasa but also in Mombasa,Kenya and entire world at large. The loss that we have had in the educational, political and in the religious sector is a wide gap that will take long to be filled. Prof.Ali A Mazrui was born in 24th February 1933 in Mombasa,Kenya in a muslim family,He holds a B.A degree from Manchester University. He is recognized as one of the top 100 intellectuals,He is one of the worlds most prolific and controversial writers in African,He served as a chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and during his tenure he played a major role in the establishment of TUM as a constituent college of JKUAT hence the current Mazrui at Mambuzi building named after him. However, the Mazrui family is at the heart of debate on historical injustices related to land at the kenyan coast, with some accusing it of penetrating related violations while seemingly pushing for indegenous rights through a human rights agency based in Mombasa.Inna Lillahi wa inna illahi wa Rajiun.
