and for anyone wanting to read the text of that Royal Commission Bill that the UK passed, and Canadian federal parliament gave assent to, that is subject to a legal challenge by scholars in Quebec, here it is: publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2012-2013/0123/cbill_2012-20130123_en_2.htm#l1g2 Well to be fair, the scholars were challenging not the content of the bill nor the idea behind it, but more that the Canadian parliament was assenting to a law of the UK, which undermines canadian sovereignty, these scholars in Quebec say, rather then like Australia and new zealand, passing our own version of the bill. That and the bill having unintended consequences, such as setting a precedent that the Canadian parliament can amend the constitution without consulting the provinces, or using the amendment formula. Time will tell, hey?
