...and the same hunt, filmed digging out and shooting two foxes last year....(filmed from a long distance-thanks to the monitor group who passed this on at the time) Early morning on Sat 12th Oct, members of the East Kent Hunt Monitors were monitoring the East Kent Foxhounds, who were hunting in the Acrise area. Arriving at a good vantage point, we spotted a group of men in a field, next to a wood where the hounds had been seen. With the aid of a long range camera, we were appalled to see what was obviously the end of a dig out (this is where hounds chase a fox back to an earth, and the terrier men are called in to dig it out, with nets and terriers-this is usually illegal now, except in certain circumstances under the Hunting Act-see notes below). A fox was lifted up by a fence, and shot in the head, and at least two foxes were carried back to a waiting quad bike. These events took place on MOD land and is usually the location that the hunt will cross on Boxing day. The footage attached shows four people, three of which have been identified as known East Kent Hunt followers, in what can only be described as a breach of the Hunting act. A spokesperson from East Kent Hunt Monitors said: If all of those people who stand in the square this year traditionally cheering on the red coats were to see the cruelty thats hidden from view, I believe they would hang their heads in shame. Its high time that the public were made aware that these people are routinely breaking the law and still using wild animals as toys to chase, torture and kill for sport. The Police must take a pro active stance against this barbaric practice to help consign Fox Hunting to history, and maybe the MOD should be more careful who it permits on its land...? https://youtube/watch?v=UjcEb0e2LBA
