apsanatreks Information for Visa Applicants Visa information can only be given by the Embassy and is free of charge. Do not trust persons who approach you offering to sell information or even visas! Foreigners who intend to travel to the Schengen countries (Austria – Belgium – France – Germany – Greece – Italy – Iceland – Denmark – Finland - Norway – Sweden – Switzerlalnd - Luxemburg – The Netherlands – Portugal - Spain - Estonia - Latvia - Lithuania - Poland - Hungary - Czechia - Slovakia - Slovenia and Malta) for private or business purposes may receive a visa for these countries valid for one day or up to 90 days. The visa may allow a single entry, two or multiple entries. This Embassy receives your visa application if your main destination is Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg or the Netherlands. Holders of valid Schengen visas issued by any one of the above mentioned countries do not require an additional transit visa (category A or B) to transit any other Schengen country. A transit visa is required if a foreigner wishes to travel through a Schengen country in transit on the way to a non-Schengen country. If remaining at the airport, Nepalese citizens do not need to obtain a transit visa, unless remaining in the transit area in Benelux. It is not possible to change the purpose of the visa request after submitting the application. There is no legal claim to obtain a visa. Fees Visa fees are payable in Nepali Rupies. The fees are fixed in Euro (please refer to separate information sheet); therefore the equivalent in Nepali currency may vary according to the exchange rate. The complete fee has to be paid upon application. Please note, that the fee will not be refunded if the visa application is rejected. Processing Time The minimum time to process a Schengen visa application is five working days. Please note that in some cases more time may be needed. Applicants who do not reside in Nepal and who apply at this Embassy can expect a longer processing period. Please note that the minimum time for processing family reunion and student visas (category D visas) is six to eight weeks. It may also take longer. Office hours Monday to Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Application form and additional documentation Please note that incomplete applications will be rejected. Applications containing false statements or forged documents will also be rejected and reported to Nepali authorities for further investigation. Information concerning the application, such as the decision and the justification for the decision, is only given (in person or in writing) to the applicant or a person who has been given the written consent by the applicant. In the case of a rejection the application with the photographs as well as the original of the letter of invitation and other documentation will remain filed at the visa section of this Embassy. Required Documents for all applicants: 1. Application form with one recent passport-sized photograph (two photographs for applications for visas category D). All questions have to be answered, incomplete forms cannot be accepted. Please note that the picture has to fulfil biometric requirements (see seperate information sheet) and must not be older than six months. 2. Valid passport or travel document with a validity of at least three more months after the end of the trip, original and photocopy. 3. Citizenship certificate, original and photocopy. If applicable Or for business: an invitation by the company to be visited together with proofs of previous communication and/or business deals settled, together with a letter of the employer/company, company’s bank statements 5. Evidence of your intention to return to at the end of your visit. 6. Evidence of your economical and social situation (e.g. properties, marriage certificate). 7. Evidence of funds which show that you or your sponsor can pay for the trip and your stay in the Schengen territory (e.g. foreign currency, traveller cheques, credit cards, bank statements). 8. Health insurance policy valid for all the Schengen states covering a minimum of 30,000 Euro without requiring the traveller’s outlay on arising costs in Schengen. Visa Applicants for Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands: Letter of Recommendation from the respective Honorary Consulate. Non-Nepali nationals residing in : Valid residence permit for Nepal. Minors under the age of 16: Written consent of the parents (father and mother) or the legal guardian. Official delegations: Supporting verbal note written by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Nepal. Transit visas (categories A and B): - Valid visa for the final destination (aforementioned no. 4 to 9 do not apply). But: If the country of final destination does not have similar visa requirements as the Schengen countries: - Evidence of the applicant’s financial and personal situation. - Documentation by which the applicant proofs his/her intention to return to Nepal if he/she has not the intention to immigrate to the country of final destination. Please note that these are minimum requirements. Additional documents may have to be presented on request.
