as i find myself on the eve of my 3rd recovery walk in philadelphia, i cant help but sit with my nostalgia. i am still just as passionate and obsessed with addiction and recovery as i was when i decided to work in this field 10 years ago. it is nothing short of an absolute honor to be part of lives undergoing such tremendous change for the better. i remain completely humbled each and every time an addict sits in my office and tells me their story - trusts me - as this is not an easy feat. the courage, strength, intelligence, and perseverance that i witness on a daily basis is such a blessing. my walk this year is and always has been for those who are still suffering because they, too, can recover. i will also fondly look back on my attendance last year with a very special client of mine - who happened to lose his battle with addiction just 2 months later. RIP
