asking for help from members please. My husband is an 80 year old Laryngectomee(14 years post op ) in end stage COPD.He is dying - we both acknowledge this fact and - however unwillingly - accept it.I have managed to nurse him at home all this time but obviously as it is a degenerative disease ,his condition worsens almost daily now. Our local Council (Denbighshire County Council ) have suddenly pulled the mat from under him re his Care Package. He uses a nebuliser for 5 hours per day and - as he is a total neck breather - needs the surroundings to be as dust free and clean as possible. He cannot filter the air via his nose and mouth as most of us do.An allergy to Latex means he is not able to use most Laryngectomee covers or an HME .The Lary bibs make him panic - he feels restricted. The Council have reduced the hours of his care package to exclude domestic help -I am not able to keep the areas he uses clean enough due to my own spinal condition. Can anyone help me by telling me where I can find guidelines for the use of Nebulisers in terminally ill patients ??? Specifically something that gives confirmation of the cleanliness of the enviroment - that`s how pedantic Denbighshire County Council are being. We are already part funded for the Care Package by our local University Health Board who acknowledge that I am performing duties proper to a qualified Nurse. That is my choice -Our local Head and Neck Cancer CNS taught me how to deal with the medical side of his stoma and use a nebuliser etc and now the Council are making it impossible for him to die at home. Petty people - so now I BEG anyone with information to give me a link I can send to them. Many thanks for reading
