assalamualaikum ppl....... i actually came to know that people are claiming that sunnah is to leave the beard as it is ...and let it grow as long as it goes.. becuz they are saying theres no authentic report that rasool allah used to shorten or cut his beard.... so its against sunnah to cut it after one fist... its jus a wild claim... one of the main reasons is .....that we find authentic reports of ibn omar radiallahuan...that he used to cut his beard after one fist.... When Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), went for Hajj or Umrah, he used to hold his beard with fist and cut whatever extended beyond his fist. [Al-Bukhari] are we saying that ibn omar radiallahuan was opposing the sunnah..? and further i ll give more refernces IA... The teachings of Hadhrat Ammar Bin Yaasir, Abdullah Ibn Umar, Sayyidina Umar, Abu Hurairah and Jaabir (R.A.), indicate that ALL used to keep beards that were one fist length or more. Hadhrat Jaabir (R.A.) had said: "We used to grow long beards and only during Hajj and Umrah did we trim them to the required length (i.e. fist length)." Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Umar (R.A.) used to cut that portion (which exceeds the grip of the hand) of the beard. - Tirmidhi its required amout of beard... we can grow further more after one fist... hoever claiming that ibn omar was opposing the sunnah by cutting is utterly wrong... assalamualaikum
