at east hills one year, we held a number of events and we raised 3000 dollars--we put in a huge courtyard full of trees, flowers, a koi pond and waterfall and all kinds of furniture. we build a pen for homing pigeons who went on field trips to send back messages, had a rabbit out there, frogs and water plants. this became a center for reading, science projects with growing, animal care, and more. the students tended this area for many years--we also began planting trees in memory of teachers who passed away-a special time.
