at some point the seSwati speakers asked the Indigenous Literature host, why is it that seSwati is marginalized in the free South Africa, even though it is part of the official languages? to which the host replied, the South African president went to Swaziland to bail the nation out of debt. and with him he took South African artists such as Zola, and Chomi and them. not one seSwati poet could be found. any more questions? i dare qoute from the study of European dialects, a book by Bill Bryson, Mother Tongue where he states, All the evidence suggests that minority languages shrink or thrive at their own ineluctable rate. It seems not to matter greatly whether governments suppress them brutally or support them lavishly.
