Instead of sitting and coasting during the slow time or having chats with guys in the office, I volunteered myself to work in tax and consulting, because I don’t believe I’m being paid to sit around and also because I had an interest in broadening my knowledge. Had I not done that, I would not have come across BHP at all. I could have just sat around, picked up the phone, or played around with my coworkers, because in the off-peaks nobody really cared what you did. But I felt extreme guilt if I was not adding something and justifying being there. Doing the minimum or what is expected is not enough.
