behold the twenty first century where equality in all forms has grown immeasurably in contrast to the recent decades. except, oh wait, slandering men is considered female empowerment and feminism (go girls!) or how typecasting people into racial stereotypes is not only perpetuated but celebrated as well (good job instragram!). BUT WAIT! lets not forget that we, as a whole, spread toxic cultural standards and double standards! welcome to our generation and the world we live in: where its okay to be a feminist, but and all any male-oriented declaration or agendas are gargled and spat back out as misogyny, where its okay to talk about rape and domestic abuse/violence because weve slipped so far backwards that this is culturally acceptable, where pessimism and cynicism are so frustratingly present in the Millenial demographic that you can see the glow slowly leaving a persons eyes day after day. and the most tragic thing of all is that so few on this island consider it. so many people think that just because were so far from Western culture that we arent a part of it. so few can see the cracks, and the few that do can only whisper against the cacophony of yells that almost immortalize all of what is wrong with us as a people. i mean damn, i enjoy my life as much as i can... but sometimes you just see the world in all of its maddening shades of grey.
