being AASU Representative, President, and Alumni Advisor of UMCP Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) opened up my eyes to our Asian American community and helped me be involved in ways that i had never before imagined. ive participated in and helped run events on campus, such as AASUs F.U.E.L. conference and VSA Family Night. ive collaborated with members of our larger Vietnamese American Community to help run off-campus events, such as July 4th Parade and Tet Trung Thu Festival. ive met passionate students with weird accents from 30+ states. ive gained so many new talents and skills that will take me into my next chapter of life and beyond. no, its not guaranteed that youll have the same experiences as i did... you have your own individual potential to discover! so if youre eyeing a certain position, dont hesitate to put your heart into it. and if youre a voting member, dont hesitate to ask the hard questions. i cant wait to see the new leaders of our community! (the elected UMCP VSA eboard 2012-2013)
