being more a #Grunge purist myself, I have always seen Stone Temple Pilots as a band that fell into what is known as slip-stream effect. Basically, once the biggest 4 bands in #Grunge - Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden made it big, the music and record industries needed to fill this insatiable appetites the masses now had for this new kind of music...so they went out looking for any band that had their guitars tuned low and a singer that could even remotely sound like any of the voices of the big four....hence this how bands like STP made it.....its fact whether u like it or not...... THAT BEING SAID...... they went on to becoming a top selling artist, even if ripped apart by purists of #Grunge like me....with their debut album banking them 5 top ten hits..... As for myself, I kinda dig em....not really an owner of any of their CDs, but I wont turn the radio station if they come on either.....but I have always said, that IMO this song....Vasoline was their absolute best.... the song itself had drive, the video had color and style....and to me, it was done at a time when Scott Weiland was at his absolute vocal, visual, and charismatic best....I mean, the outfit he wore in the video was classic! and after all....STP is still a child of #Grunge, and that cant be all bad now can it? ~ junior of kr8trfase
