...besides all the technical, and legal issues, why is the media ignoring the political subtext of the Tier 2 Pension Scheme? A smart journalist will be investigating why (1). One government official after another is keen on keeping Pensions Alliance Trust (PAT) at the table (2). Who are the beneficial owners/shareholders of PAT (3). What are the interrelationships and connections between PAT and other firms controlling some specific Fund Managers, Pension Fund Administrators, PE Funds acquiring assets from SSNIT, and SSNIT itself. (4). Similar connections between this group and JVs with SSNIT, and (5). Between senior government officials, officials of cross - industry regulators, and PAT and its other related firms? Is our media suggesting that they are blind to the motivations underpinning the death-grip tussle between a government determined to hold on to the Tier 2 Pension Funds, and an energised labour union determined to pry it out of the hands of this insidious octopuses fronting for vested interests closely aligned to the NDC government? Isnt it about time our journalists start going beyond what is being billed in the public domain as a simple issue of employer - employee disagreements? We will all rue the day the labour unions lose this tussle.
