billtammeus.typepad/my_weblog/2014/03/3-7-14.html The religious liberty debate: 3-14 Bill: The current culture-wars debate about religious liberty has been marred by lack of clarity, by a widespread failure to recognize the complexity of the issues and by oversimplification that sometimes is so vast as to be purposefully misleading. - first, lets recognize once more that religious freedom is a bedrock principle of our nation. Indeed, its not much of an exaggeration to say that when the first European settlers arrived here and began to violate the freedom of Native Americans to occupy the lands they had occupied for centuries, it was to gain religious freedom that they felt they had lost in Europe. Read more here: billtammeus.typepad/#storylink=cpy So the idea of guaranteeing religious liberty and of the requirement that the government not mandate an established religion got written into our Constitution. In some ways, religious freedom is like freedom of speech in that it is designed to protect unpopular minorities. If everyone spoke in ways that offended no one the free speech guarantees of the Constitution wouldnt mean much. The Majority of the Humans that fled Europe were mostly Protestant Religious Humans, that fled Europe whose Countries had the Catholic Religion as their Government Religion, and many still do today.. In the USA it was put in our USA Constitution to have Freedom of Religion in America. Free Speech led to forming the Practice of using Christian Religion in Government also, whether recognized as a Christian Nation or not. The USA has Christian Prayer used in Public, for all Government Events. . There were only Christian Chaplains for opening prayers in Congress up into the later 1900s. Who End their Prayers, In Jesus Name, Amen. Whether members were Christian or other Religions, or even Atheists. So America became a Christian Nation in Name Only, and also in Practice Planetwide! By the Humans in Control of Government, not by the Constitution. The USA was to be One Equal Nation of all Humans of All Religious Persuasions. As America grew and States were formed the Christian Majority of Citizens, also included the Christian Religion in their Governments. And America became a Christian Nation. In the 1900s the makeup of the Christian Persuasion has changed. Many Poles that ask do you believe in God, and still the Majorty answers yes. This does not mean in the Christian God, but multiple Gods. And Atheists are growin Planetwide. So Human Religious Practices that should not have started for a One Equal Government for All Religions, ended up as Christian, needs a Change, to No Religious Practices in Government in 2014 Religious Citizens that are not Christian and Atheist Citizens, should feel comfortable at Public gatherings. And Closing Ceremonies do not need Religious Prayers. Why? What has Government to do with the Many Handed Down Man-Made Generic Gods? Many Human Protests have resulted. And the Christian Right is getting more Visible about America being a Christian Country, with Jesus a more recent Human, the Son of God! So What Do All the Citizens Do About It? Continue Civil Unrest? Or Take God out of Country and make it an Equal Government for All Citizens, regardless of Religion, Creed, or any Man-Made Faith, or Atheist? And Try to Unite under One Man-Made Governement with Liberty and Justice for All? Like it was Intended in the beginning! Or was the USA Originally started to be a Christian Protestant Religious Nation? That is the Question especially for the Christian Right Members today! Amen and Amen! So Be It!
