bit.ly/1ukeCqP By now, you’ve probably heard of TTIP – the dodgy trade deal that’s being cooked up behind closed doors between the US and the EU. It’s really bad news, and could mean the end of the NHS as we know it. With the NHS included in this deal, US-based investors could sue a future government that tried to reverse NHS privatisations. It’s no wonder so many people are campaigning to make sure that the NHS is protected and taken out of TTIP. And yet Nick Clegg’s Lib Dems are isolated with just their coalition partners, the Conservatives, in refusing to support our call for David Cameron to use his veto to protect the NHS from TTIP. Can you join the tens of thousands who have taken action with us to defend the NHS by signing our petition today? The more people who sign it, the bigger the impact will be, and the greater our chances of saving the NHS. Nick Clegg has said that the Lib Dems, “anchor British politics in the centre”. But threatening the security of our NHS by including it in TTIP is a policy from the lunatic fringe. When people first realised that TTIP could mean the end of the NHS, there was a public outcry. Thanks to that, every opposition party in England now wants Cameron to use his veto, to take the NHS out of TTIP. Last week even Tory MP Zac Goldsmith said ‘TTIP isn’t about trade or no trade. This is a question of basic democracy.’ So why can’t the Lib Dems see what everyone else can see? Of course, this petition is just the start. We will need to do a lot more to make sure that Nick Clegg and the Lib Dems hear what the overwhelming majority tell them in poll after poll – “it’s the NHS stupid. Tell your coalition partner David Cameron to use his veto to remove the NHS from TTIP.” It starts with this petition. Please sign it and share it with your friends, and save out NHS.
