bk2 pg77/ Theta realized then that Dshiba was having a problem with her cup, wanting to set it somewhere so that she could take the bowl the dragoness was holding out to her. “You can set your thae cup on this shelf while you eat your stew.” Theta took the cup from Dshiba, then handed her the bowl. “Oh! you will need a utensil of some kind, will you not? Vrok always eats with his hands. I forgot that some dra—uh—beings prefer eating with a spoon.” (I am ylvyn,) Dshiba said. She thought, these dragons are not real people, they are—She stopped, changed her line of thinking as she looked at the dragoness. She thought, they are able to read my mind. “Not if you cloak your thoughts,” Theta told her with a smile. At least Dshiba hoped it was a smile. “Here. I have found you a spoon.” She handed her a spoon, dwarfed in her dragon’s hand, but large for Dshiba’s. “You know, you startled me when I saw you standing in the doorway with the sword in your hand.” Dshiba looked down at the sword across her lap. She had not yet sheathed it. She would not. These female dragons seemed very friendly to her. They seemed to be not dangerous at all. But they were so very large. Not as large as a bilobeast, or the fallen Gargarton. But large none the less. Much bigger than she was. “Though why I was startled, I could not say,” Theta continued. “You are such a little thing. You do not look the least bit dangerousto us.” (Some have thought so,) Dshiba said. (I too am a warrior. I am captain of the queen’s elite guard, and when there is battle I am commander of all her forces.) Theta looked over at Nukada. Her thoughts eased into her friend’s mind. *A warrior? A female who is a warrior?*Nukada smiled at Theta. *I have never heard of such a thing* she thought back. Theta picked up the spouted container. “A very important position, I am sure,” she murmured as she refilled Nukada’s cup.
