The individual selected will research diverse federal, state, corporate and foundation funding opportunities and coordinate the development, writing and submission of proposals/bids and associated, post-award progress reporting. Grants here mean non-research opportunities and will focus on wellness practices to promote health. The VA is one of the largest research and healthcare organizations in the world committed to IHW and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Work with designated person(s) to coordinate/author individual grant applications, letters of interest/inquiry, responses to requests for contract bids, related funder reporting, and donation requests in collaboration with program leadership, quality management, finance, and community staff, as necessary. Use social media funding approaches as needed. SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ensure the highest standards of grammar, accuracy, and punctuation in all writing assignments * Ensure all writing assignments are aligned with funder format and content requirements and agency correspondence standards * Ability to write clearly, succinctly, engagingly and provide accurate information * Research diverse funding opportunities and summarize findings for direct report * Complete grant research to determine funding options, to ascertain eligibility criteria, and to ensure awareness of guidelines and deadlines * Complete forms and narrative sections on grant applications, ensuring input from relevant colleagues and collaborative partners * Accuracy of facts, and adherence to VAs use of language essential * Work in collaboration with other departments, partnering organizations, and development team as needed * Adhere to all department policies, procedures and internal approval processes * Good team player, able to work independently and as part of a team and willing to do what is needed to meet goals * Capable problem solver with a can-do attitude * A creative thinker who can offer unique solutions to complex problems * Submit proposals, bids and reports via electronic grant application platforms, as necessary * Update internal stakeholders on grant/contract activity * Research, coordinate, author, and follow up on requests for donations * Prepare materials related to grant projects suitable for presentation at meetings or for funders * Participate in regular meetings with program leadership to track development goals; review expenditure of awarded funds, and assist with reporting requirements * Maintain electronic grant, contract, and report files * Participate in funder site visits * Conduct other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: VA experience strongly preferred. Qualified candidates should possess a bachelors degree in human services, journalism, communications or a related discipline; or equivalent. A minimum of three years of grant writing or related experience with a proven track record of securing new and continuation grant and contract funding preferred. Strong organization, verbal communication, writing and editing skills, social media savvy required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite necessary. Candidates should be able to manage multiple projects of varying scope and intensity simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Familiarity with electronic grant application platforms preferred. Candidates with an understanding of development best practices a plus. Writing samples are requested.
