breath taking ~ The Twelve Apostles, Port Campbell National Park, Australia Australia’s iconic limestone stacks called the Twelve Apostles have been reduced to just eight stacks left standing. The same erosion that created these stone pillars continues to eat away at the base of each one. In 2005 the stack called “Judas” crashed into the sea, the most recent casualty of Indian Ocean tides. Despite today’s single-digit population, the name Twelve Apostles simply has too much recognition to change. However, the waves continue to dig at the cliffs above the beach, and may one day carve new stacks to join the ranks.
