by Cheryl Splain MOUNT VERNON — City Council met in special session Monday night to discuss a draft agreement for providing fire and EMS service to College and Monroe townships. Following the discussion, council adjourned into executive session to discuss discipline of personnel and possible land acquisition. No action was taken after concluding the executive session. Mount Vernon Fire Chief Chris Menapace outlined costs, staffing and the effect a merger will have on the three entities. He reiterated that the agreement was a draft and said the numbers and scenario will change if either township declines the merger. Read more on MountVernonRadio
