by Staff reporter KC Times Text Size-+reset Warren Chen Shui Warren Chen Shui attended Kingston College from 1961-67 and was in Gibson House. He was head boy of his form at one time and was a member of the Science Club and what was then known as the Student Christian Movement. He was a member of the track and basketball teams and was the first Jamaican to win an individual event at the Penn Relays in 1967 with the Triple Jump. He along with schoolmate Maurice Lewis, while still schoolboys, were on the first Jamaican basketball team to tour overseas in 1966. Warren taught at KC for about a year before taking up a track scholarship at the University of Oregon and returned to Jamaica in 1976 the week before the big fire but swears to this day he was not responsible for it. He started teaching at KC shortly after his return and worked there for more than 20 years before leaving for the Edna Manley College to work in Art Education as well as Information Technology. He had a number of posts while at KC including Grade Coordinator, acting Vice Principal, Head of the Art and IT departments as well being a jumping coach for the track team for several years. Warren is presently involved in wellness, teaching meditation and stress management as well as practicing energy medicine and Pranic Psychotherapy. He is the author of two books: How to Manage Thoughts in Spiritual Meditation and the Vanishing Visitor (Jamaican Ghost Mystery Series).
