#cbcmar Happy Turkey (or left over) day! Im in the WC and working on a few things including: -Mid-Fall (calling it mid because meteorological Fall begins at the start of September) warm up. As a large area of high pressure takes a position southeast of the Maritimes well tap into some warmth that has its source near the Carolinas and Georgia. Looks like some widespread highs in the low 20s on both Wednesday and Thursday. -Thankful to have that high pressure system, because in addition to giving us that bump in temperatures it should also hold the two active Tropical Storms in the Atlantic (Fay and Gonzalo) from having any direct impact on the Maritimes through the end of the this week (though Gonzalo will need to be watched carefully). -While we dont yet have to be worried about Fay and Gonzalo we do have a round of rain headed our way late Thursday into Friday that has the potential to bring in some high rainfall totals. Current guidance has a centre of low pressure moving up from the Great Lakes and tracking along the St. Lawrence river valley at the end of this week. The cold front from this low will progress slowly through the Maritimes Thursday night through Friday. The front will tap into moisture off of the Atlantic, lifting it and dropping it as rain across the Maritimes. Long range guidance is pretty close with the timing but varies for rainfall totals, so for those who rely heavily on weather apps be prepared to see several changes over the next couple of days for this end of week wet weather. All the best to you and your loved ones on this holiday Monday and Ill have live updates on the weather tonight from 6 to 6:30 pm on CBC TV.
